For Larson Acres, Inc., a family-owned southern Wisconsin dairy farm
Larson Acres, Inc., a family-owned, established and growing dairy business in southern Wisconsin, is looking to hire individuals to be part of the milking team that works with their 2400 cows in the dairy’s double-20 and double-22 parallel parlors.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist in set-up and sanitation of milking parlor
Follow standard milking procedures
Identify and sort sick animals
Assist in checks of milking equipment for potential issues
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
Maintain good communication with supervisor
Participate in team efforts to achieve goals
Provide leadership to others through example, and sharing of knowledge and skills
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
An interest in dairy
Respect for cows
Hard worker
Ability to tolerate repetitive, manual labor
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform heavy lifting
Skill in observation
Willingness to tolerate exposure to manure, and hot and cold weather
Ability to work effectively with a variety of people types and personality styles
Ability to follow written and oral directions, and communicate in English
Good teamwork skills
Required Education and Experience:
Willing to train the right person
Prior dairy experience a plus
Work Schedule
8 hour shifts, 6 days per week. Applicants must be willing to work weekends, and holidays. Positions are available for first shift (5:00 AM-1:00 PM), second shift (1:00-9:00 PM), and third shift (9:00 PM-5:00 AM).
Pay
The salary range begins at $9.25/hour and increases to $9.50/hour following 90 day probationary period. Education and experience may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.
