Position Available: Maintenance Technician/Farm Equipment Operator

For Larson Acres, a family-owned, southern Wisconsin dairy farm

Larson Acres, Inc., an established and growing dairy business is currently looking to hire a highly motivated, self-directed individual to help service, maintain, and repair the dairy’s equipment and facilities, assist with the operation of farm field equipment, and perform other duties as assigned.     

Essential knowledge, skills, and attributes:

  • Willingness to work varying hours, occasional long shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Proven mechanical knowledge
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, as well as precision and computerized equipment
  • Ability to operate powered equipment in a safe manner
  • Willingness to handle greasy and dirty parts, and tolerate exposure to manure, hot and cold weather
  • Ability to stand; walk; sit; climb; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl, and perform heavy lifting
  • Skill in observation and inspection
  • Effective problem solver
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of people types and personality styles
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage competing demands
  • Eager learner

Required education and experience:

  • Prior experience in farm work
  • Technical training in farm mechanics, diesel or heavy equipment  a plus
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record

Work Schedule          

  • Days
  • Minimum 55 hour work week.

Pay
The salary range begins at $35,000, based on a 55 hour work week.  Education and experience may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.
